Jonathan Chappell, MD |

Dr. Jonathan Chappell was born and raised in Mooresville, North Carolina. He received his bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and attended medical school at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and then continued his postgraduate training with a fellowship in sports medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Sports Institute in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Chappell has presented research both internationally and nationally on ACL injury mechanism and prevention, knee kinetics, ACL reconstruction, elbow injuries in throwing athletes, and shoulder instability. He has demonstrated his dedication to the profession by serving as the Team Physician for Loyola Marymount University, and being the assistant to the Team Physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, Kings, Dodgers, Galaxy and the Anaheim Ducks. Dr. Chappell’s specialty interests will include ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff injuries, and shoulder and elbow injuries associated with throwing sports.
Dr. Chappell resides in the Triangle where he enjoys running, snowboarding, soccer, and tennis.

Mark D. Charlson, MD |

Dr. Mark Charlson was born in northern Minnesota. He spent over thirteen years in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he completed his undergraduate, medical school and residency programs. He then pursued additional training in Orthopaedic Trauma as well as Foot and Ankle surgery. His interests include acute traumatic injuries, post-traumatic reconstruction, and adolescent and adult foot and ankle problems.
Now living in Raleigh with his wife, Jamie, and daughter, Isabel, Dr. Charlson enjoys cycling, backpacking, and dog sledding.

Curtis A. Hanson, MD |

Dr. Curtis A. Hanson was born in Champaign, Illinois and raised in Austin, Texas. He attended the University of Arizona, Tucson, for his undergraduate degree and The University of Texas Medical Branch for his medical degree. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was named Resident of the Year by the WakeMed Department of Orthopaedics and was awarded the Resident Research Award by the UNC Department of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Hanson’s research has been published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine as well as the Journal of Hand Surgery. Dr. Hanson has also presented his research to the North Carolina Society for Hand Surgery.
Dr. Hanson resides in Durham with his wife. In his spare time he enjoys snow skiing, scuba diving and mountain biking.

Timothy E. Harris, MD |

Dr. Timothy Harris was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA. He is a fellowship trained orthopedic trauma surgeon who manages injuries to the spine, pelvis and extremities and their complications.
Dr. Harris performs joint replacement surgery, manages trauma cases and received numerous awards for his research efforts. In addition to his research and work with Wake Orthopaedics, Dr. Harris has an academic appointment to the University of North Carolina School of Medicine where he teaches residents and medical students.

Eric G. Meinberg, MD |

Dr. Eric Meinberg grew up in Michigan and has recently settled in Raleigh. He is active in clinical practice, teaching, and research. In addition to teaching residents at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, he has lectured at many international meetings in the US, Europe, and Asia, and published in leading journals. He is also involved in many research programs working to improve the care of trauma patients.
Adding to his interest and expertise in general orthopedic surgery, Dr. Meinberg specializes in the management of complex orthopedic trauma patients, reconstruction of malunions, nonunions, and other post-traumatic joint deformities, as well as joint reconstruction and replacement surgery.

Dr. Mark Wood was born and raised in North Carolina. He received his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and attended medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at UNC prior to moving back to Raleigh to practice. He is married and has two daughters and a son.
Dr. Wood continues to be recognized for his achievements and excellence to the profession and his unbending dedication. He has presented his research at the local, regional and national levels and has multiple publications in the medical literature. His specialty interests include sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, knee and shoulder disorders and joint replacement surgery. Dr. Wood enjoys fishing, boating, golfing, and snow skiing.

Dr. Casey Jenkins was raised in Michigan. He is a fellowship trained hand and upper extremity surgeon with interests in fracture, joint instability, and soft tissue repair. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland prior to fellowship in hand and microsurgery at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Jenkins has completed research on Synovial Chondromatosis, Function after Tendon Transfer in Radial Nerve Palsy, and Correction of Intraarticular Malunion in Distal Radius Fractures. He has presented locally on Median Nerve Avulsions and Phalangeal Fractures and Dislocations.
He is married and has two children and enjoys bicycling, backpacking, rowing and gardening.

Neal R. Cole, PA-C |

Mr. Cole is a native of Jacksonville, NC. Cole completed his undergraduate and graduate work at East Carolina University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and Biology, and a Master of Science in Economics. He completed his Master’s research on “Comparing Costs of Chiropractor and Physician Treatments in Worker’s Compensation Low Back Claims” and obtained his NCCPA certification in July, 2004. Cole also completed six years with the United States Navy serving as a physical therapy technician. Mr. Cole recently moved from Ahoskie, NC where he has been practicing with a private orthopedic surgeon for more than a year.
Cole is married to his lovely wife, Samantha and he enjoys golf and fishing.

Dan Cyr was born in Canada and raised in northern Maine. He received his Physical Therapy degree from the University of New England. He then relocated to North Carolina and has been practicing in Wake County ever since. Dan has furthered his career by attending numerous post graduate training seminars in sports medicine and orthopedics. He has also created a researched based soccer injury prevention program and is involved in training golfers through a golf specific conditioning program.

Jeff started his career at Durham Regional Hospital, but has been employed at WakeMed Health and Hospitals for the past 10 years with a focus on outpatient rehab for the past 8 years. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 kids, golfing, Hurricanes hockey, Nascar, and working in the yard.

Dr. Russell Norris was raised in New Bern, North Carolina. He received his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and attended medical school at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Greenville Hospital System and then continued his postgraduate training with a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga, TN.
Dr. Norris has presented research nationally on hip arthroscopy, femoral neck and shaft fractures, displaced ankle fractures, and tibial fracture wounds. Dr. Norris’ specialty interests will include traumatic and post traumatic conditions.
Dr. Norris resides in the triangle and is a certified pilot who enjoys boating, camping, hiking, and traveling.
